Access Flows to a Repository from Other Services

4th International Conference on Open RepositoriesThis presentation was part of the session : Conference PostersIn this paper, we analyze access logs of an institutional repository and show access flows to the repository. In addition to log files of the repository, we also use those of the linking system which connects the repository and the activity database of faculty members in the institution. We show that many accesses come from search engines, such as Google, and only few accesses from harvesters, such as OAIster. This fact leads us the tentative hypothesis that metadata of repositories does not work for searching items on them. In spite of that, this fact does not conclude that there does not exist other services from which many users go through to repositories. In fact, we reveal potential importance of external services with large page views. Such services play as a role of pathfinders to items on repositories

In this paper, we introduce a large-scale activity data collection, and discuss the challenges for activity recognition with real data. Toward Pioneering Sensors and Features Using Large Language Models in Human Activity Recognition

In this paper, we propose a feature pioneering method using Large Language Models (LLMs). In the proposed method, we use Chat-GPT 1 to find new sensor locations and new features. Then we evaluate the machine learning model which uses the found features using Opportunity Dataset [ 4 , 9]. In current machine learning, humans make features, for this engineers visit real sites and have discussions with experts and veteran workers. However, this method has the problem that the quality of the features depends on the engineer. In order to solve this problem, we propose a way to make new features using LLMs. As a result, we obtain almost the same level of accuracy as the proposed model which used fewer sensors and the model uses all sensors in the dataset. This indicates that the proposed method is able to extract important features efficiently.Comment: 5 page

A Sustainable Model based on the Social Network Service to Support the Research Cycle

Third International Conference on Open Repositories 2008, 1-4 April 2008, Southampton, United KingdomIn this paper, we analyze requirements for institutional repositories from the viewpoint of the research cycle, and find that it is critical any existing repository system has little functions managing social relations of researchers. This leads us to a general model in which an SNS platform is an interface for researchers and an institutional repository is a backyard system. The SNS platform enables researchers to work together with co-workers. In addition to the interface, the SNS platform provides authentication and authorization mechanism for other backyard systems. Due to the mechanism, we can use, for instance, a search engine with the access control. Therefore academic resources not available to the public, such as a manuscript of a paper, can be safely indexed. Managing the authentication and authorization mechanism is done in a sustainable manner, compared to other standard authentication or authorization systems, such as SSO or ACL (Access Control List)
